XLN Audio DB-30 Drum Butter – Macro Drum FX Plugin

XLN Audio DB-30 Drum Butter was built for one job: making drums sound inspired. Instead of chaining five separate plugins to get punch, width and character, XLN Audio DB-30 Drum Butter gives you six colour-coded effect modules in a single window, each fronted by a giant cream macro knob for instant gratification and backed by a full control panel for precision work when you want it.

The concept comes straight from the Addictive Drums playbook: professional results without menu-diving. Need a fatter snare in ten seconds? Grab the big Compress macro knob and turn it up. Want to fine-tune the result? Open the module and dial Punch against Warm, adjust the band focus, and balance the Down/Up response. A MAGNITUDE slider scales the intensity of the entire chain at once, and the preset library — including the signature Better With Butter starting point — delivers sounds that feel finished the moment you load them.

Inside XLN Audio DB-30 Drum Butter: six modules, one flow

Each module in XLN Audio DB-30 Drum Butter covers a classic drum-processing stage. Boom Shack shapes the low end with Boom and Shack modes plus pitch and decay controls. Shift handles frequency and formant movement with invert and stretch options. Space is the dimension module, delivering booth-style ambience with pre-delay, ducking and pan/width control. Compress offers six flavours — Punch, Warm, Glue, Gentle, Smack and OTT. Saturate brings Console, Tape, Tube, Digital and 4-Track colour. And More is the wild card, with x1, x2 and x4 intensity stages for when subtle is not the brief.

The bottom strip completes the picture with everything a drum bus needs: Input gain, EQ, Cut filter, Tone, Air, Attack, Sustain, Clip and Output. It is effectively a whole drum channel in one window — shape the transient, add the air, glue it together, and get back to the song.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the individual modules, or is DB-30 enough on its own?

XLN Audio DB-30 Drum Butter is a complete drum channel by itself — the six modules plus the bottom strip cover everything from transient shaping to glue compression and saturation, so most users will not need anything else on the drum bus.

Can I go beyond the macro knobs?

Absolutely. Every module opens into a detailed panel with the full parameter set underneath, so you can start fast with the macros and finish precisely with the deep controls.
